International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (I.G.S.H.P.A.)

St. Vincent / St. Mary Gymnasium (October 2009)
The new St. Vincent-St. Mary Bishop Cosgrove Center built by Summit Construction Company utilizes a state of the art ground source heat pump system to heat and cool the new facility. The geothermal system, installed by Middleton Geothermal Services, LLC and the K Company will save the school at least $800,000 in operating costs over 30 years and several million over it's 50 year lifespan. Payback on the incremental cost difference between the originally designed conventional boiler/chiller system and the ecologically advanced geothermal system will be 7 to 8 years. After that the owner will actually "make" money over the 50 plus year lifespan of the geothermal system. St. V will make use of a unique leasing arrangement with Wellfin LLC, a local geothermal services company. Under this arrangement, operating cost savings will provide the funds necessary to make the lease payment with St. V owning the system outright at the end of the term.

Metro Park has been named "Greenest" in Ohio!
The platinum LEED certification that the ranger/resource management building has is the greenest Ohio has seen according to the U.S. Green Building Council. The solar and geothermal components the structure has are designed to work together to lower the use of non-renewable energy sources and to limit the waste of water.
